Is the whole sideboard solid walnut, or is the carving a veneer?
The carved doors and cabinet body are solid American black walnut — the wave pattern is cut into the boards, not printed on a laminate. The top is a separate honed stone slab, which we state openly because it is not wood.
What is the top made of and why not walnut?
The top is honed stone. We use it because a sealed stone surface handles water rings, heat and serving scuffs better than an oiled wood top, while the walnut body carries the grain and carving.
Can it store wine bottles?
Yes. The interior shelves are spaced to lay standard wine bottles on their sides alongside stacked plates and serveware, so it functions as a working buffet and bar.
How heavy is it and does it arrive assembled?
It weighs about 90 lb as a solid-wood piece and ships essentially ready to place, with only minimal setup.
