Wood has Life, Objects have Soul
Exploring the Art of Craftsmanship
We are not just manufacturing furniture; we are extending the life of the tree. Through the strict selection of FAS North American Black Walnut and the precision of Traditional Joinery, every Walnutry piece is a crystallization of time and patience.
Selection: Why Black Walnut?
Wood is the soul of furniture. At Walnutry, we insist on using North American FAS Grade Black Walnut. Compared to other common woods, Black Walnut possesses superior dimensional stability and decay resistance, while its unique parabolic grain patterns are nature's own masterpiece.

Structure: The Wisdom of Mortise & Tenon
Mortise and Tenon is the skeleton of traditional furniture. Without a single metal nail, it utilizes the wood's own tension to create connections that last for centuries. The chart below analyzes the relationship between Structural Integrity and Craftsmanship Complexity.

Known as the "Mother of all Joints." It uses trapezoidal interlocking shapes that become tighter as they are pulled apart. Used for drawers and cases, serving as both a structural bond and a decorative feature.
Finishing: Furniture that Breathes
Traditional chemical lacquers seal the wood surface to protect it, but they also kill the tactile warmth of the material. Walnutry insists on using Plant-based Wood Wax Oil.

The Journey of a Log
01. Kiln Drying
Imported FAS logs undergo 3 months of air drying followed by steam kiln drying to reach the golden moisture content of 8%-12%, eliminating internal stress.
02. Grain Selection
Only about 30% of the wood is selected for visible surfaces. Artisans hand-match boards to ensure grain continuity and natural color transitions.
03. Joinery Assembly
Precision cutting of joints. Assembled using natural hide glue or imported wood glue, then clamped under high pressure to cure for 24 hours.
04. Hand Sanding & Oiling
Six rounds of sanding from 180 to 600 grit. Wood wax oil is applied after each sanding, allowed to dry, and sanded again until the touch is as smooth as jade.
