The Alden puts its whole walnut frame in view: a slatted back, a slatted seat and splayed legs. It's 28.0 in (71 cm) wide and 34.6 in (88 cm) high.
Slats front and back
The back and the seat are walnut slats. The arms are rounded, up to 2.0 in (5 cm) wide, and the edges are sanded round. Mortise-and-tenon joinery holds it together.

It's 28.0 in (71 cm) wide, 32.7 in (83 cm) deep and 34.6 in (88 cm) high. The seat is 16.9 in (43 cm) off the floor, and the arms are 22.4 in (57 cm) high.
With its cushion, the seat is 24.2 in (61.5 cm) wide. The back cushion is 19.9 in (50.5 cm) tall.
The arms are bare walnut. If you want padding there, the Marais has bolsters over its arms.
Covers that zip off
The seat and back cushions are a cream woven fabric over high-resilience foam. Their backs are anti-slip, so they stay put on the slats.
Both covers come off with hidden zips. A loose lumbar pillow comes with the chair.
Wood and care
Every wooden part is solid wood, and the frame is solid American black walnut. It's Appalachian FAS-grade walnut, finished in hardwax oil.
Dust the wood with a soft dry cloth, and wipe spills promptly: the oil resists water but isn't waterproof.
Refresh it with a hardwax-oil maintenance product. Knots, sapwood edges and mineral streaks are natural walnut, not defects.
Ordering the Alden
We make each Alden to order. Production takes 6 to 10 weeks, and it reaches you about 10 to 18 weeks after you order. It arrives fully assembled.
Standard shipping is free across the contiguous United States, excluding remote areas. You have 90 days after receiving your order to request a return. Custom dimensions, custom finishes and special-order modifications are not eligible for return.
