The Kyoto is a low profile modular sofa, 28.7 in (73 cm) tall, built from upholstered modules on a solid walnut base. You can order a single module or a three-seater, and the two clip together.
Two modules and a clip
The single module is 43.3 in (110 cm) wide, and the three-seater is 78.7 in (200 cm). Both are 35.8 in (91 cm) deep and 28.7 in (73 cm) tall. Clip connectors join them side by side.
We offer the Kyoto in these two modules only, so it stays a straight run.
A walnut base that sits back
The upholstered blocks rest on a solid walnut base. The base is set in from the edges, with a gap to the floor, so the sofa looks like it floats.
Inside the blocks, the frame is solid wood, built with mortise-and-tenon joinery. The style is Japandi, with soft geometric lines.
What the Kyoto won't do
The covers don't come off. If you want covers that come off, the Oslo's and the Daren's zip off.
The 28.7 in (73 cm) is the height of the whole sofa. The seat itself is 16.1 in (41 cm) off the floor.
Wool over two foams
The upholstery is a wool-blend fabric. Under it, two layers of high-resilience foam in different densities sit beneath a soft top layer.
The seams are double-stitched. The back is angled.
Moving it and caring for it
Lift the sofa to move it; don't drag it. Keep it on a level floor, out of damp and strong direct sun.
Dust the walnut with a soft dry cloth. The oil resists water but isn't waterproof, so wipe spills promptly. Variation in grain and color is normal walnut, not a defect.
Every wooden part is solid wood, and the base is solid American black walnut. It's Appalachian FAS-grade walnut, finished in hardwax oil.
Ordering the Kyoto
We make each one to order. Production takes 6 to 10 weeks, and it reaches you about 10 to 18 weeks after you order. It needs some assembly when it arrives.
Standard shipping is free across the contiguous United States, excluding remote areas. You have 90 days after receiving your order to request a return. Custom dimensions, custom finishes and special-order modifications are not eligible for return.
