The upholstered back panel sits inside a slim walnut surround like a canvas in a frame, and the arms fall from the back in one unbroken line to the seat rails. All the softness is held by solid American black walnut.

Seat height is a true 18" — the sweet spot for 29–30" tables — with padding on both the seat and the framed back. The arms land where forearms rest during conversation, which is also where they rest over a laptop; Cael moonlights well at a desk.
