A natural stone plinth carries two solid-walnut beams, cross-lapped and through-fitted mortise-and-tenon style; an 18.6" square of tempered glass floats on top. Nothing is disguised as anything else — you can see exactly how every layer meets the next, which is the entire aesthetic.

Is the glass safe?

It is tempered safety glass with polished edges, resting on the walnut beams with the stone's mass anchoring everything below. Tempered glass granulates rather than shards in the rare event of breakage.

Do I need coasters?
