Each round leg and its small arched bracket are cut as one piece from a thick block of solid wood. Under the top, dovetailed battens help keep it flat.

The Cumberland dining table stands on round legs, each with a small arched bracket under the apron.

Depth changes with the length

Each length has its own depth. The 55.1 in (140 cm) table is 29.5 in (75 cm) deep, and the 86.6 in (220 cm) is 35.4 in (90 cm).

Only the 63.0 in (160 cm) size is 31.5 in (80 cm) deep. If your room is tight, check the depth of the size you want as well as its length.

We don't give seat counts or a top thickness for the Cumberland.

One block for leg and bracket

We cut each round leg and its arched bracket as one piece from a single thick block of solid wood.

A 2.0 in (5 cm) solid wood apron supports the top. The legs sit slightly in from the corners, so standard armchairs can be pushed in.

Battens, corner blocks and hardware

Under the top, sliding battens with dovetailed ends run across it. They help keep the top flat and give the wood room to move, which lowers the risk of cracking.

At each leg, a triangular solid wood corner block joins the top, the apron and the leg. Hardware reinforces the blocks.

We glue the top up from boards at least 3.1 in (8 cm) wide, matched for color and grain. The edge is chamfered and sanded soft.

Moving it and looking after it

It arrives fully assembled. To move it, lift it; don't drag it. Stand it on a level floor, away from damp and strong sun.

Every wooden part is solid wood, and the walnut is solid American black walnut. It's Appalachian FAS-grade walnut under a hardwax oil finish.

The oil resists water but isn't waterproof, so wipe spills promptly. Natural variation in grain and color is normal.

It works as a dining table, a desk, a tea table or a work table. We make each one to order. Production takes 6 to 10 weeks, and it reaches you about 10 to 18 weeks after you order.

Standard shipping is free across the contiguous United States, excluding remote areas. You have 90 days after receiving your order to request a return. Custom dimensions, custom finishes and special-order modifications are not eligible for return.
