The Marais is an upholstered armchair in linen, 29.5 in (75 cm) wide, on exposed walnut legs. Its seat cushion is 7.9 in (20 cm) thick.
Each arm from one wide piece of walnut
We cut each arm from a single wide piece of walnut, then shape it by CNC. The edges are rounded.
A padded bolster sits over each walnut arm, and it comes off.
A seat with goose down on top
The seat cushion is 7.9 in (20 cm) thick. A layer of white goose down sits over 45D high-resilience foam. Cushions wrap the seat on three sides.
The upholstery is linen. Inside, the frame of the upholstered body is solid wood.
Measure the depth first
The Marais is 29.5 in (75 cm) wide and 35.4 in (90 cm) deep. Measure front to back before you order.
The seat is 15.7 in (40 cm) high and 22.0 in (56 cm) deep, with the arms at 20.5 in (52 cm). The back leans at 105°.
Walnut and hardwax oil
Every wooden part is solid wood, and the legs and arms are solid American black walnut. It's Appalachian FAS-grade walnut under hardwax oil, built with mortise-and-tenon joinery.
Dust the wood with a soft dry cloth, and wipe spills promptly: the oil resists water but isn't waterproof. Refresh the wood with a hardwax-oil maintenance product.
