The Maren walnut dining chair has a wide, thick back that curves around you and turns forward at both ends. It's all wood, with no cushion.
A back that wraps forward
The back is wide, strongly curved and thickened. At both ends it turns forward, toward the front of the seat.
It's still a side chair, with no arms.
A shaped seat
The seat is shaped rather than flat, and it's solid walnut. It sits 17.7 in (45 cm) off the floor. The legs splay slightly.
Wood, joints and oil
Every wooden part is solid wood, and the walnut is solid American black walnut. We join it with mortise-and-tenon joinery.
It's Appalachian FAS-grade walnut, finished in hardwax oil. Knots and color shifts are part of black walnut, not defects. Wipe spills promptly: the oil resists water but isn't waterproof.
Leave room behind it
It's 23.0 in (58.5 cm) deep overall, so leave room behind it at the table. That depth is the whole chair, back included, not the seat.
We don't publish a seat width or depth for the Maren. It's 18.1 in (46 cm) wide and 33.1 in (84 cm) tall. Allow 0.4 to 1.2 in (1 to 3 cm) either way on these figures.
Ordering the Maren
Buy one chair, or a set of 2, 4, 6 or 8. Each Maren is made to order and arrives fully assembled. Production takes 6 to 10 weeks, and delivery is about 10 to 18 weeks after you order.
Standard shipping is free across the contiguous United States, excluding remote areas. You have 90 days after receiving your order to request a return. Custom dimensions, custom finishes and special-order modifications are not eligible for return.
