The Orin is a Danish-style paper cord dining chair in solid walnut. Its seat is woven by hand in a tight cross weave.
Three hours of hand weaving
Each seat takes about three hours to weave by hand. The paper cord runs in a tight cross weave. The cord is natural kraft paper, not a synthetic.
A lower seat, and one figure we don't have
The seat is 16.5 in (42 cm) off the floor. That's lower than the Daren, Sylvan or Helios, at 17.7 in (45 cm). Measure the space under your table before you order.
We don't publish a seat width or depth for the Orin. Overall, it's 18.9 in (48 cm) wide and deep, and 29.9 in (76 cm) tall.
Back and legs
The back rail is heat-bent so it follows the line of your back. The legs splay outward. We join the frame with mortise-and-tenon joinery.
It has no arms.
Walnut, oil and grain
Every wooden part is solid wood, and the walnut is solid American black walnut. It's Appalachian FAS-grade walnut under hardwax oil.
The oil resists water but isn't waterproof, so wipe spills promptly. A slight smell on unpacking is normal; keep the room aired. Color shifts and knots are part of black walnut, not defects.
Ordering the Orin
Pick a single chair, or a set of 2, 4, 6 or 8. Each Orin is made to order and arrives fully assembled. Production takes 6 to 10 weeks; delivery is about 10 to 18 weeks after you order.
Standard shipping is free across the contiguous United States, excluding remote areas. You have 90 days after receiving your order to request a return. Custom dimensions, custom finishes and special-order modifications are not eligible for return.
