The Riven walnut dining chair is 16.5 in (42 cm) wide and has no arms. It's all wood, with a solid walnut seat and no cushion.
A back board that curves two ways
The back is one board, 14.2 in (36 cm) wide, curved in two directions. The rear posts run straight down into the rear legs.
We build the seat from wide boards joined edge to edge, with no finger-jointed stock. It tilts slightly back.
What we don't publish
We don't publish a seat height or a seat size for the Riven. If either one decides it for you, ask us before you order.
There's no cushion, only solid walnut. For a padded seat, the Lior has a fabric-covered seat and back pad over foam.
Size at the table
The chair is 16.5 in wide, 20.9 in deep and 31.5 in tall (42 × 53 × 80 cm). With no arms, it slides under the table.
A narrow chair helps at a short table or in a tight room. Measure your table before you decide how many to order.
Joints and wood
We join the seat to the rear legs with mortise-and-tenon joinery. Every wooden part is solid wood, and the walnut is solid American black walnut.
It's Appalachian FAS-grade walnut under a hardwax oil finish. The oil resists water but isn't waterproof, so wipe spills promptly. Dust it with a soft dry cloth.
