A Bentwood Classic, Reimagined in Walnut
The Salo draws on the heritage of European café chairs — turned spindle backrest, round seat, curved bentwood frame — and renders it entirely in solid American black walnut. Three slender spindles with lathe-turned bobbin detailing rise from a gently arched top rail, giving the back its distinctive rhythm without adding visual weight. The circular seat sits within a steam-bent hoop that doubles as a structural ring, connecting four subtly splayed legs for quiet, confident stability.
Material & Construction
Every component is solid walnut, finished in zero-VOC natural hard wax oil that lets the grain's warm chocolate-to-amber tones develop naturally over time. Brass-toned fasteners at the seat ring add a small, honest detail. A lower bentwood stretcher ring ties the legs together, reinforcing the frame where it matters most. The chair is light enough to pull out one-handed yet built to hold up through years of daily meals.
At the Table & Beyond
At just 16.1 inches wide, the Salo tucks neatly around smaller dining tables and works equally well as a desk or vanity chair. Its slim profile makes it easy to pair in sets without crowding a room. The round seat accepts a cushion pad for added comfort — shown in several lifestyle settings with a fitted toile cushion that sits cleanly inside the seat ring. Available as a single chair or in sets of two, four, or six.
