All wood, with no cushion: the Sora walnut dining chair has a steam-bent back with a wing-shaped top rail over a solid walnut seat. It arrives fully assembled.
The wing-shaped top rail
The top rail of the back is shaped like a wing and stands 5.5 in (14 cm) tall. Below it, the back is steam-bent into a curve.
The rear legs splay outward. We sand the edges round, and we sand them more than once.
Solid walnut, no fabric
The Sora is all wood: solid walnut, with no upholstery. There's no cushion to flatten and no fabric to clean.
Sizes
The seat sits 17.3 in (44 cm) off the floor and is 16.5 in (42 cm) deep. Overall the chair is 17.3 in wide, 20.5 in deep and 33.9 in tall (44 × 52 × 86 cm).
It has no arms, so it pulls in close to the table.
How we build it
Every wooden part is solid wood, and the walnut is solid American black walnut. We kiln-dry the lumber to 8 to 10% moisture.
It's Appalachian FAS-grade walnut, joined with mortise-and-tenon joinery and finished in hardwax oil. Wipe spills promptly: the oil resists water but isn't waterproof.
What to check first
We don't publish a seat width for the Sora. If you need it, ask us before you order.
A wood seat is firm. For a padded seat, the Lior has a foam-filled fabric seat.
