Braided rope is wound by hand between the walnut rails to make the seat and back. Each side is two walnut triangles, with the tenons showing on the outside.

The Suiseki is a woven rope lounge chair, 27.2 in (69 cm) high, with its seat 13.0 in (33 cm) off the floor. The frame is solid American black walnut, and it has no arms.

Rope wound by hand

The seat and back are 6 mm braided rope with a core, in a light coffee color. It's wound back and forth between the walnut rails by hand, and the ends are hidden.

Two triangles a side

Each side is two walnut triangles that meet the floor. A crossbar at the back braces them.

The tenons run through and show on the outside, finished with contrasting caps. It's mortise-and-tenon joinery you can see.

How you sit in it

The seat is 13.0 in (33 cm) high, 21.7 in (55 cm) deep and 25.6 in (65 cm) wide. The back meets it at 105°.

A movable lumbar pillow comes with it, in 50% linen / 50% cotton.

Caring for the frame

Every wooden part is solid wood, and the frame is solid American black walnut. It's Appalachian FAS-grade walnut, finished in hardwax oil.

Dust the wood with a soft dry cloth, and wipe spills promptly: the oil resists water but isn't waterproof. Refresh it with a hardwax-oil maintenance product.

Who it isn't for

At 13.0 in (33 cm), the seat is low. If you'd rather sit higher, the Cairn's seat is 18.1 in (46 cm).

It has no arms to push up from. Screen colors can differ slightly from the real chair.
