A weighted steel ring in matte gunmetal sits flat on the floor and slides under the sofa's edge; the walnut post rises off-center, and the 18.9" round top cantilevers 3.5" toward you. The result: the surface hovers where a normal side table can't reach — over the sofa's arm shadow, beside your actual hand.

The top is 0.7"-thick solid American black walnut with a chamfered edge, hand-rubbed with hardwax oil. The base is steel because ballast is steel's job: 22 lb of table stays planted while holding 35 lb of laptop, books, and lamp.

Will it fit under my sofa?

If there is 1.2" of air under the frame or legs, yes — the flat steel ring slips beneath and the tabletop overhangs the seat edge. Sofas that sit dead on the floor (full plinth bases) are the one exclusion.

Is it stable with weight on one side?

Yes — the base ring is deliberately heavy and the load path is engineered for the offset. Tested to 35 lb on top: a laptop, a stack of books, and a reading lamp together.

Why mix steel with walnut?
