A drum with a door

The cylinder is wrapped in vertical fluting cut into solid FAS-grade American black walnut; the door carries 5 mm reeded tempered glass in a walnut frame with brushed solid-brass hardware. Reeded glass is the trick: it lets light through but melts the contents into soft vertical lines — storage that reads as texture.

Inside the cylinder

A fixed shelf splits the 18" round interior into two tiers rated to 40 lb — books, tissues, a carafe below; chargers and the private kit above. The tray-lipped top holds another 100 lb, lamp and all.

Can you see the contents through the glass?

Only as soft vertical blur — reeded glass passes light but scrambles detail, so the shelf inside reads as texture rather than clutter. It is the difference between display and disclosure.

What are Style A and Style B?

Mirrored door orientations. Buying a pair for both sides of the bed, choose one of each so the doors open away from the mattress on both sides.

What bed height does it fit?

At 24.6" tall it suits mattress tops around 23–27" — standard and hybrid beds. It also works beside sofas as a small cabinet; several buyers run one in each room.

Is the glass fragile?

It is 5 mm tempered safety glass in a solid walnut frame — the same material family as glass shower doors. Normal bedroom life (and the occasional knock) is well within its tolerance.
