The Japandi walnut dining chair is built around one line: each rear leg runs up and becomes a back post. A cream microfiber-leather cushion covers the seat.
Legs that turn into the back
The rear legs and the back posts are one continuous piece. The back itself is a curved panel, 15.7 in wide and 6.3 in tall (40 × 16 cm).
We build the key joints with mortise-and-tenon joinery. The legs splay outward.
Seat height and size
The seat is 19.3 in wide and 16.5 in deep (49 × 42 cm), at 18.1 in (46 cm) high. Overall, the chair is 20.1 in wide, 22.4 in deep and 32.7 in tall (51 × 57 × 83 cm).
It has no arms. Our sizes are measured by hand, so small variations are possible.
Solid wood, seat base included
Every wooden part is solid wood, including the seat base under the cushion. The walnut is solid American black walnut. It's Appalachian FAS-grade walnut.
Oil, water and grain
We finish the walnut in hardwax oil. The oil resists water but isn't waterproof, so wipe spills promptly. A slight smell on unpacking is normal; keep the room aired.
Knots and mineral streaks are part of black walnut, not defects.
A thin cushion
The cushion is 0.8 in (2 cm) thick. It's cream microfiber leather, a synthetic, over high-density foam.
If you want genuine leather, the Oryn has a cream top-grain leather cushion.
Ordering the Japandi
Buy a single chair, a pair or a set of 4. Each one is made to order and ships fully assembled. Production takes 6 to 10 weeks, and delivery is about 10 to 18 weeks after you order.
Standard shipping is free across the contiguous United States, excluding remote areas. You have 90 days after receiving your order to request a return. Custom dimensions, custom finishes and special-order modifications are not eligible for return.
