The frame most sofas hide

Alden Ridge's walnut shows at the arms — round rails you can hook an elbow over — and along the base, where turned legs carry a visible rail. When the structure is on the outside, it has to be solid American black walnut; there is no cheaper wood to disguise under fabric, and no way for the frame to be anything less than what you see.

One design, three lengths

The single chair is 43.3" wide, the three-seater 86.6", the four-seater 98.4" — all 33.9" deep and 34.6" tall. Start with the sofa and add the armchair later: frame and fabric match because they come off the same benches.

The fabric

A herringbone-weave upholstery in wheat and white, and a green with a velvet hand. Textured weaves earn their keep on sofas — the pattern breaks up wear and hides the flattening that plain flat fabrics show first.
