The Alden is a round extendable walnut dining table with two side leaves stored under its top. It's the only round table we make that extends.

Three shapes from one table

With both leaves stored, the top has two flat sides. Open one, and it becomes a half-round whose flat side stands against the wall. Open both for a full circle.

That half-round shape takes less floor space on an ordinary day.

Opening a leaf

Drop the apron panel by its recessed pull. Pull the leaf out from under the top, lift it up and line it up. Do the same on the other side.

The leaves turn on brass-alloy hinges.

Legs, edges and the top

The legs are square in section, rounded on the inside edge. The edges are sanded round, and there's plenty of room underneath.

We glue the top up from 5 to 6 wide boards, counted with the leaves stored.

Every wooden part is solid wood, and the walnut is solid American black walnut. It's Appalachian FAS-grade walnut, finished in hardwax oil.

Care and the first days

A slight smell when you unpack it is normal, so keep the room ventilated. Don't cover the top with film or glass, so the wood can breathe.

The oil resists water but isn't waterproof, so wipe spills promptly. Use a coaster or trivet under hot or wet things.

Knots, sapwood edges and mineral lines are natural walnut traits, not defects.

Made to order, with some assembly

We make every Alden to order. Production takes 6 to 10 weeks, and it reaches you about 10 to 18 weeks after you order. It needs some assembly on arrival.

Standard shipping is free across the contiguous United States, excluding remote areas. You have 90 days after receiving your order to request a return. Custom dimensions, custom finishes and special-order modifications are not eligible for return.
