Arden is a walnut rattan TV stand, though the rattan is faux: a synthetic weave framed in solid walnut on the center door. Everything else you see is solid American black walnut.
Who should look elsewhere
There are no drawers. The open slots are narrow too. On the 220 cm size each is 4.9 in (12.5 cm) wide, so they suit books on end, not a receiver. If you want drawers, the Heritage Media Console has four.
We don't give a weight rating or a TV size for it.
Three doors, four slots
A wood door closes the cabinet at each end. In the middle, a faux-rattan door covers a third cabinet, with four upright slots beside it. On the 220 cm size the end cabinets are 20.5 in (52 cm) wide and the woven-door cabinet 21.3 in (54 cm).
The end cabinets are 14.0 in (35.5 cm) tall inside. Our factory had a router, a set-top box or a projector in mind for them. The pulls are flush grooves, so nothing sticks out to knock into.
The woven door
We call it faux because it is: the weave is synthetic, not natural cane. It sits in a solid walnut frame. The open weave lets air reach what's behind it and keeps dust out.
Flush to the wall
The rear bottom corner is notched to clear a skirting board, so the console sits flush against the wall. A cable hole in the back panel, above the open slots, takes the cords. There's also a cable gap at the back of the top.
The case sits on a full plinth right on the floor, so there's nothing to clean underneath.
Four lengths
Choose 70.9, 78.7, 86.6 or 94.5 in (180, 200, 220 or 240 cm). Every length is 15.7 in (40 cm) deep and 17.3 in (44 cm) tall. We measure by hand, so allow 1 to 2 cm.
Solid walnut, dovetailed corners
Every wooden part is solid American black walnut, including the back panel, rails, dividers, doors and plinth. It's Appalachian FAS-grade walnut, built with mortise-and-tenon joinery. Through dovetails show at the case corners.
We edge-glue the panels from wide boards, alternating the grain and matching the color. The walnut is kiln-dried to 8 to 10% moisture. Knots, sapwood and mineral streaks are natural in black walnut.
The finish is hardwax oil, with no paint. It smells faintly of oil when you unpack it; keep the room aired. Dust with a soft dry cloth, and use a coaster under hot or wet things.
