The Arlen walnut dining chair stands 34.8 in (88.5 cm) tall, with a tall back panel bent by heat. There's open space between the panel and the seat.
A back panel bent with heat
We bend the back panel with heat into a curve, 13.0 in (33 cm) tall. Below it, there's open space above the seat.
The seat and the back are made from boards joined edge to edge. Every edge is rounded and sanded.
Legs in a V
The legs are scissor-shaped, like a V, and they join in a triangular structure. A stretcher runs between the legs.
A seat that keeps you back
The all-wood seat tilts slightly back, so you don't slide forward. It's 15.9 in (40.5 cm) deep and 17.7 in (45 cm) off the floor.
Before you order
We don't publish a seat width for the Arlen, so ask us if you need it. The seat is 15.9 in (40.5 cm) deep, shallower than the Haven at 18.5 in (47 cm).
It's all wood, with no cushion. And it's sold one chair at a time, with no set option.
Walnut, dried and joined
Every wooden part is solid wood, and the walnut is solid American black walnut. Our walnut is kiln-dried to 8 to 10% moisture and joined with mortise-and-tenon joinery.
It's Appalachian FAS-grade walnut under hardwax oil. Expect knots and color shifts. They're part of black walnut, not defects.
We measure by hand, so allow 0.4 to 0.8 in (1 to 2 cm) either way.
