One steam-bent curve runs from arm to arm around the back of the Aro walnut dining armchair. The seat under it is all wood.
Back and arms in one sweep
The back wraps around and runs into the arms in one piece. We bend both with steam.
At the front, each arm gives you a long grip, so pulling the chair out from the table is easy.
A seat shaped from wide boards
The seat is concave and all wood, made from wide boards matched by grain. It's 18.1 × 18.1 in (46 × 46 cm).
The legs splay slightly and are spindle-shaped, a little thicker in the middle. Every edge is rounded.
A lower seat, and arms to check
The seat is 16.5 in (42 cm) high, and the arms are 26.0 in (66 cm). Measure the underside of your table before you order.
It's 21.7 in (55 cm) wide, so check the space each chair gets at your table. For a higher seat with no arms, the Opus sits at 17.7 in (45 cm).
Walnut and joinery
Every wooden part is solid wood, and the walnut is solid American black walnut. Our walnut is kiln-dried to 8 to 10% moisture.
It's Appalachian FAS-grade walnut, joined with mortise-and-tenon joinery and finished in hardwax oil. There may be a slight smell when you unpack it. Keep the room ventilated.
Dust it with a soft dry cloth. We measure by hand, so allow 0.4 to 0.8 in (1 to 2 cm) either way.
Ordering the Aro
Order one chair, or a set of 2, 4, 6 or 8. We make each Aro to order, and it arrives fully assembled. Production takes 6 to 10 weeks, and delivery is about 10 to 18 weeks after you order.
Standard shipping is free across the contiguous United States, excluding remote areas. You have 90 days after receiving your order to request a return. Custom dimensions, custom finishes and special-order modifications are not eligible for return.
