Each end stands on a closed walnut loop, and the loops have two positions. Set further in, they leave room to sit at the ends. Set near the ends, they open up the space underneath.

The Auren dining table has a rounded-rectangle top on two closed loop legs. It works as a dining table or a large desk.

Depth comes with the length

You choose the length, and the depth comes with it. There is no separate width option.

All four sizes stand 29.5 in (75 cm) tall. The 55.1 in (140 cm) table is 31.5 in (80 cm) deep, and the 78.7 in (200 cm) is 35.4 in (90 cm).

We don't publish a seat count for the Auren. Lay your chairs out on the floor at the size you want before you order.

Two places for the legs

Each end stands on a closed loop of solid walnut. The loop is 1.6 × 3.5 in (4 × 9 cm) in section, with corners rounded like the top.

The loops have two positions. At 7.9 in (20 cm) from the ends, people can sit at the ends. At 0.8 in (2 cm), there's more open room underneath, so two people can work side by side.

Even in that outer position the legs sit 0.8 in (2 cm) in, so the table can stand against a wall.

A frame instead of an apron

There's no apron. A central frame under the top takes its place, which leaves more legroom. The underside of the top is 28.0 in (71 cm) off the floor.

Steel bars are set into the underside of the top. The two shorter sizes have two, and the 70.9 and 78.7 in (180 and 200 cm) tables have three.

Solid wood cross rails run under it too, with gaps that let the wood expand and shrink.

Boards, edges and a floating look

We glue the top up from 5 to 8 wide boards, matched for color and grain. Its edge is 1.6 in (4 cm) thick, and the corners and edges are rounded.

The legs meet the top set slightly back from the edge, so the top seems to float. We kiln-dry the lumber to 8 to 10% moisture content.

Every wooden part is solid wood, and the walnut is solid American black walnut. It's Appalachian FAS-grade walnut, finished in hardwax oil.

The oil resists water but isn't waterproof. Wipe spills promptly, and use a coaster or trivet under hot or wet things.

Standard shipping is free across the contiguous United States, excluding remote areas. You have 90 days after receiving your order to request a return. Custom dimensions, custom finishes and special-order modifications are not eligible for return.

Can I choose a different width?

No. The depth comes with the length: 31.5, 33.5 or 35.4 in (80, 85 or 90 cm). The two longest sizes are both 35.4 in (90 cm) deep.

Can people sit at the ends?

Yes, with the legs in the position 7.9 in (20 cm) from the ends. In the other position, 0.8 in (2 cm) in, the space underneath is more open.

Will it work as a desk?

Yes. It works as a dining table or a large work table. With the legs near the ends, two people can work side by side.

Is there metal in it?

Yes. Steel bars are set into the underside of the top. The 55.1 and 63.0 in (140 and 160 cm) sizes have two, and the two longer sizes have three.
