Material & Weave
The Daren pairs a solid American black walnut frame with hand-woven natural paper cord on both the seat and backrest. Each cord panel is wrapped in a traditional radial pattern that gives slightly under weight, offering a comfortable sit without cushioning. The walnut is finished with zero-VOC hard wax oil that lets the grain's warmth come through honestly — rich chocolate tones with subtle amber undertones that will deepen over years of use.
Design Character
There's a quiet European farmhouse sensibility here, reinterpreted with cleaner proportions. Four cylindrical turned legs rise straight from a box stretcher base, giving the chair a grounded, architectural stance. The rear posts extend upward and terminate in rounded ball finials — a small sculptural detail that lifts the silhouette without adding visual weight. The woven backrest panel sits between two horizontal rails, keeping the upper frame open and light.
At the Table
At 17.7 inches square and 31.9 inches tall, the Daren sits comfortably at standard dining tables without crowding. The compact footprint makes it a strong choice for smaller dining rooms or breakfast nooks where you want presence without bulk. Available as a single chair or in sets of two, four, or six — each set offered at a graduated discount.
