Our Estate walnut nightstand puts one drawer over an open shelf. It's 18.1 in (46 cm) wide and stands 20.5 in (52 cm) tall.

Three ways to route a cord

Cords have three ways down. There's a hole in the back panel and a 0.8 in (2 cm) slot at each side of the top. Run the lamp cord down one side and the phone charger down the other.

Raised edges on three sides of the top keep things from rolling off the back and sides.

Dovetails you can see

Pull the drawer out and look at its front corners. They're dovetailed, with wedge-shaped pins and tails cut to lock together. The drawer sides are solid black walnut too.

The drawer slides on solid-wood runners, sanded by hand. A finger pull is cut into the underside of the front.

A shelf for the bedtime pile

The open shelf has 7.5 in (19 cm) of clear height. That's room for the books you're reading, a box of tissues or a massager.

The case is 15.0 in (38 cm) tall, with angled side panels, on four tapered legs 5.5 in (14 cm) high.

Made to order in solid walnut

Every wooden part is solid American black walnut: Appalachian FAS-grade walnut, built with mortise-and-tenon joinery and finished in hardwax oil. Wipe spills promptly; the oil resists water but isn't waterproof.

We make each Estate to order. Buy one, or a pair and save 10%. Production takes 6 to 10 weeks, and it's delivered fully assembled about 10 to 18 weeks after you order.

Shipping is free in the contiguous U.S., and returns are open for 90 days. Custom-modified pieces are final sale. See the Estate next to our other walnut nightstands.

Who should pick another one

At 20.5 in (52 cm), the Estate sits high. If your bed is lower, the Heritage is 19.7 in (50 cm) and the Helios 17.7 in (45 cm).

There's one drawer, and whatever sits on the shelf stays in view. If you'd rather shut everything away, the Heritage and the Helios each have two drawers.
