At 17.7 in (45 cm), the Helios walnut nightstand is the lowest one we make. It has two drawers, and their pulls are hidden in the fronts.
Pulls hidden in the drawer fronts
You grip the edge of the drawer front and slide it out. With nothing sticking out, there's nothing to bump into.
Both drawers are walnut inside and out, and they run on solid-wood runners. Each is 17.0 × 10.8 × 3.1 in inside (43.2 × 27.5 × 8 cm). That's wide but shallow, right for a remote, a glasses case and a paperback laid flat.
Splayed legs, a rimmed top
Four tapered legs, 4.7 in (12 cm) tall, splay out from the corners. They lift the case off the floor, so it's easy to clean under.
A raised rim runs around the top, so things set on it are less likely to slide off. Overall it's 19.7 in wide and 15.7 in deep (50 × 40 cm).
Start with your mattress height
Measure from the floor to the top of your mattress. If that's well above 17.7 in (45 cm), the Helios will sit low beside it. The Heritage is 19.7 in (50 cm) and the Estate 20.5 in (52 cm).
No shelf, no cable hole, no pair
You won't find an open shelf or a cable hole on the Helios. For a book pile by the bed, the Sylvan Sanctuary has an open shelf; for a charger cord, look at the Vantana or the Estate.
The Helios is sold singly, with no pair option. Order two for both sides of the bed.
Sanded by hand, finished in oil
Every wooden part is solid American black walnut. It's Appalachian FAS-grade walnut, built with mortise-and-tenon joinery and sanded by hand.
The finish is hardwax oil, with no paint. There may be a slight smell when you first unpack it, from the sealed packing; that's normal, and airing the room is all it needs.
Some boards carry bird-peck marks or dark mineral streaks, which come with the species.
Delivery and returns
We make each Helios to order. Production takes 6 to 10 weeks, and it's delivered fully assembled about 10 to 18 weeks after you order.
