A sunburst pattern usually means veneer. Kurumi's is solid American black walnut — FAS-grade, FSC-certified boards cut and matched so the grain radiates from the center, joined with floating splines, 1.25" thick all the way through. At approx. 140 lb, this is a table you position once.

Sizes & seating

Two sizes: 54" seats 4 comfortably, 6 in a pinch; 59" seats 6. The open pedestal — curved walnut panels instead of corner legs — leaves knee room the whole way around. Keep about 36" of walking space if your room allows.

The details you find later

The edge is a reverse bevel: it reads thin from above, but your hand finds the full 1.25" underneath. Each pedestal panel lands on a brushed brass foot cap — a line of light at the floor, and a buffer that keeps end grain off damp tile. As sunlight moves, each wedge of the top catches it at a different angle.

Finish & everyday life

The zero-VOC hard wax oil finish leaves grain you can feel, not a plastic shell. Scratches take a light sand and a wipe of oil — a spot fix, never a full strip. The walnut settles into a warm patina over the years.
