Frequently Asked Questions
How low is a 26-inch sofa, really?
The back stops about knee-high on a standing adult — most sofas run 33–36". Sitting, the 10" backrest lands at your lower back, which suits a reclined lounge posture. The payoff is spatial: nothing blocks sightlines or window light, so the room reads larger.
Is a 10-inch backrest comfortable?
As lumbar support in a leaned-back position, yes; as a head-height backrest, no — and we would rather say so. Add a floor of throw cushions for movie posture, or choose a tall-back sofa if head support is non-negotiable.
What is the base made of?
Solid American black walnut with mortise-and-tenon joinery and reinforced corner blocking, under a zero-VOC hard wax oil. The base is recessed, so you see a low walnut shadow line rather than an exposed frame.
Can I build a sectional from it?
Yes — single and three-seater modules (each 35"–40" wide) combine into long runs or L-shapes, and recombine later. Beige is standard; custom upholstery is available.
Bouclé or Belgian linen?
The performance bouclé is the practical pick — dense loops, hides wear, suits pets. Belgian linen breathes better and develops a lived-in drape. Both sit over the same down-topped cushions.
