Solid walnut, from the smallest size up

Small tables are usually where the veneer hides. Marais is FAS-grade, FSC-certified American black walnut in every size — solid boards, no MDF, the same mortise-and-tenon work as our largest tables. The 39" costs less because it's smaller, not because it's built differently.

Five sizes for real rooms

39" and 43" are breakfast-nook tables: two people daily, four when it counts. From 47" up, six fit — the 55" does it comfortably. All stand 29.5" tall with a softly eased edge.

Legs that stay out of the way

The legs splay at 96°, so the table stands planted — but their feet stay inside the top's edge, out of the path of toes and chair legs. An arched apron ties them together and stiffens the top.

Built for wood that moves

Turn it over and the engineering is labeled, not hidden: expansion grooves let the solid top breathe with the seasons, anti-warp battens hold it flat, and sizes from 47" up add a reinforced crossbar. That's what keeping a solid top flat for decades actually takes.

Which size fits my space?

Give the table about 36" of clearance on the sides people walk. A 39" round works in a nook under 8' across; 47" and up want a dedicated dining space. The 39" and 43" seat four; from 47" up, six fit.

Will a solid wood top this size warp?

The build assumes wood moves: expansion grooves under the top let it breathe with humidity, anti-warp battens hold it flat, and sizes from 47" up add a reinforced crossbar. That, plus a hard wax oil finish on both faces, is how solid tops stay flat.

Why are the legs angled?

They splay at 96° — enough to plant the table firmly, while the feet stay inside the top's shadow so you don't kick them walking past. It's the stance mid-century tables used for the same reason.

Why does it take 6–10 weeks?

Every Marais is made to order in solid walnut rather than pulled from a warehouse. Returns stay open for 90 days after delivery.
