A scalloped edge can't come out of a machine press — ours is carved, curve by curve, into solid black walnut. A small table with the kind of detail people cross a room to touch.

The scalloped edge

Margaux's rim rises and dips in hand-carved scallops — the pie-crust edge that antique tables wear — cut into a 1.25" thick top of solid American black walnut. Run a finger along it: every curve is shaped, sanded, and finished by hand, and no two tables repeat exactly.

Turned pedestal, three feet

The column is turned solid walnut — ball, ring, and taper — standing on three cabriole legs. It's the shape of a Georgian tea table, scaled for how we actually live: breakfast for two, a reading corner, a bistro spot by the window.

Three sizes

30" seats 2; 36" seats 2–4; 42" seats 4. All 29.5" tall and light enough to move where the morning light is — approx. 45 to 60 lb by size.

Finish & everyday life

The finish is Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C — a hard-wax oil that soaks in rather than coating, leaving a dead-matte surface that spot-repairs invisibly. FAS-grade, FSC-certified walnut beneath, warming into a patina with use.

Is the scalloped edge really hand-carved?

Yes — the scallops are carved and sanded into the solid 1.25" walnut top by hand, which is why the curves vary slightly from table to table. A pressed or routed copy can't hold that depth of profile in solid wood.

What can I use it for besides dining?

It earns its keep as a breakfast table for two, a tea or card table, an entry table, or a reading-corner companion — at 45–60 lb it actually moves when your layout does.

What is the Rubio Monocoat finish?

A professional hard-wax oil that bonds into the wood's top fibers instead of filming over them. It looks dead-matte, feels like bare sanded walnut, and small scratches re-oil invisibly.
