A scalloped edge can't come out of a machine press — ours is carved, curve by curve, into solid black walnut. A small table with the kind of detail people cross a room to touch.

The scalloped edge

Margaux's rim rises and dips in hand-carved scallops — the pie-crust edge that antique tables wear — cut into a 1.25" thick top of solid American black walnut. Run a finger along it: every curve is shaped, sanded, and finished by hand, and no two tables repeat exactly.

Turned pedestal, three feet

The column is turned solid walnut — ball, ring, and taper — standing on three cabriole legs. It's the shape of a Georgian tea table, scaled for how we actually live: breakfast for two, a reading corner, a bistro spot by the window.

Three sizes

30" seats 2; 36" seats 2–4; 42" seats 4. All 29.5" tall and light enough to move where the morning light is — approx. 45 to 60 lb by size.

Finish & everyday life

The finish is a hardwax oil that soaks in rather than coating the wood, and it spot-repairs invisibly. Appalachian FAS-grade walnut beneath, warming into a patina with use.

Buff lightly with a dry cloth every few months to redistribute surface wax
Refresh with a hardwax-oil maintenance product every 1 to 3 years

Is the scalloped edge really hand-carved?

Yes — the scallops are carved and sanded into the solid 1.25" walnut top by hand, which is why the curves vary slightly from table to table. A pressed or routed copy can't hold that depth of profile in solid wood.

What can I use it for besides dining?

It earns its keep as a breakfast table for two, a tea or card table, an entry table, or a reading-corner companion — at 45–60 lb it actually moves when your layout does.

What is the finish?

A hardwax oil that bonds into the wood's top fibers instead of filming over them. It feels like bare sanded walnut, and small scratches re-oil invisibly.

How many people can sit at each size?

30" is a table for 2; 36" seats 2 for meals and 4 for coffee; 42" seats 4. For a full dining table, look to our 47"-and-up rounds.

Why does production take 6 to 10 weeks?

The edge is carved by hand and every table is made to order. It reaches you about 10 to 18 weeks after you order, and returns stay open for 90 days.
