Self-storing leaves, the old way

Each leaf lives under the main top. Pull the end of the table and it draws out and rises flush — one motion, one person, no separate panels leaning in a closet and drying to a different color than the top. It's the mechanism Danish workshops trusted a century ago, built in solid walnut.

Three sizes, each with real range

Choose your span: 39" opening to 63", 47" to 79", or 55" to 87". The smallest is a daily table for 4 that seats 6 when drawn; the largest runs 6 every night and 8 with both leaves out. All stand 28.9" tall on slender tapered legs.

Solid walnut, no veneer

Top, leaves, apron, and legs are FAS-grade, FSC-certified American black walnut — approx. 120 lb of it, mortise-and-tenon at the frame. Rounded corners and a softly eased edge keep the lines mid-century.

Finish & everyday life

The zero-VOC hard wax oil finish is repairable where life happens: light sand, wipe of oil, done. Expect the walnut to settle into a warm patina — leaves included, since they age in the same room.

Where do the leaves go when the table is closed?

They slide back under the main top and stay there — that's the point of a draw-leaf design. Nothing to carry to a closet, and because the leaves live with the table, they age to the same tone as the top.

Can one person open it?

Yes. Grip the end, pull, and the leaf draws out and rises level with the top. Each side takes a few seconds; there are no latches or loose parts.

How many people does each size seat?

The 39–63" seats 4 daily and 6 drawn out; the 47–79" seats 4–6 daily and 8 drawn; the 55–87" runs 6 daily and 8 fully open.

Will the leaves match the top's color over time?

Yes — unlike boxed leaves stored in a dark closet, draw leaves live under the table in the same light and air, so the walnut patinas together.

Why does it take 6–10 weeks?

Each Soren is made to order, and a draw-leaf mechanism in solid wood has to be fitted, not just assembled. Returns stay open for 90 days.
