The Sylva walnut dining chair is all wood, with no cushion and no fabric. Its seat sits 18.3 in (46.5 cm) off the floor.
Wood where you sit
The seat is solid walnut, 16.1 × 16.1 in (41 × 41 cm), shaped with rounded edges. There's no cushion to flatten and no fabric to clean.
The back is a curved panel, steam-bent and 5.9 in (15 cm) tall.
Legs and frame
The legs splay outward. Under the seat there's a triangular wooden frame.
The chair is 18.1 in (46 cm) wide across the rear legs and 16.9 in (43 cm) deep. It stands 31.1 in (79 cm) tall.
Solid walnut, oiled
Every wooden part is solid wood, and the walnut is solid American black walnut. It's Appalachian FAS-grade walnut, kiln-dried to 8 to 10% moisture.
We finish it in hardwax oil. Wipe spills promptly: the oil resists water but isn't waterproof. A slight smell when you unpack it is normal; keep the room aired.
Knots, mineral streaks and color shifts are part of black walnut, not defects.
Who it's not for
If you want a padded seat, choose another chair: the Kael has a foam-padded seat, and the Oryn a top-grain leather cushion.
The Sylva comes as a single chair, with no set options. Order as many as you need.
Ordering the Sylva
We make each Sylva to order. Production takes 6 to 10 weeks, and it reaches you about 10 to 18 weeks after you order.
Standard shipping is free across the contiguous United States, excluding remote areas. You have 90 days after receiving your order to request a return. Custom dimensions, custom finishes and special-order modifications are not eligible for return.
