The Haven Reading Chair is a mid-century reading chair, 33.1 in (84 cm) wide, with its cushions on a saddle-leather sling. The frame around them is solid American black walnut.

One piece of saddle leather

The seat and back sit on a single piece of saddle leather. It's stretched over a stainless-steel base plate, under the cushions. Hook-and-loop strips keep the cushions from sliding around.

Cushions you can unzip

Both cushions are cotton-linen in a herringbone pattern, over 45D high-resilience foam. The covers come off with a zip.

The seat cushion is 24.0 in (61 cm) across and just as deep. The back cushion stands 22.4 in (57 cm) tall.

Choose Light Grey, Black, Dark Gray, Beige, Dark Green, Navy Blue or Sage Green.

Sizing it up

It's 33.1 in (84 cm) wide, 31.5 in (80 cm) deep and 32.7 in (83 cm) high. There's 7.9 in (20 cm) of clear space under the seat frame.

The back is extra tall.

Before you order this one

The back stays at one angle. If you want a chair that reclines, the Haven Lounge Chair has three positions and a built-in footrest.

Measure the 33.1 in (84 cm) width against your corner before you order. It needs some assembly when it arrives.

Walnut, oil and care

Every wooden part is solid wood, and the frame is solid American black walnut. It's Appalachian FAS-grade walnut, built with mortise-and-tenon joinery and finished in hardwax oil.

Dust the wood with a soft dry cloth, and wipe spills promptly: the oil resists water but isn't waterproof.

When the wood looks dry, refresh it with a hardwax-oil maintenance product. There may be a slight smell when you unpack it. Keep the room ventilated.

Knots, sapwood edges and mineral streaks are natural walnut, not defects.
