Built to be leaned on

Heritage is the table we load-test in photos — six adults sitting on the top, rated well past 300 lb. The legs join the top with wedged mortise-and-tenon work (the joint is drawn on our structure diagram, not hidden), and two steel bars embedded under the planks keep the solid top flat through winters of dry heat.

No apron, more knee

The sculpted legs flow straight into the top — there's no apron rail ringing the underside, so crossed legs and taller chairs fit without knocking. It also leaves the plank top reading as one clean line from every seat.

Five lengths

47" seats 4; 55" seats 4–6; 63" seats 6; 71" seats 6–8; 79" seats 8. Two depths, 31.5" and 35.4", both at the standard 29.5" height. Full-length walnut planks run the top end to end.

Solid walnut, honestly finished

FAS-grade, FSC-certified American black walnut under zero-VOC hard wax oil — water beads on it, scratches sand out locally, and the color deepens to a warm patina. No veneer, no MDF anywhere.

How sturdy is it really?

Why is there no apron under the top?

The sculpted legs join the top directly, so there's no rail to hit your knees on — taller chairs slide fully under, and sitting cross-legged at the table actually works.

Will a solid top this long stay flat?

Two steel bars are embedded across the underside specifically to hold the planks flat as humidity swings, on top of the usual acclimated-lumber and finished-both-faces discipline.

Which size should I get?

Count 24" per place setting: 47" for 4, 63" for 6, 79" for 8. If you host monthly rather than nightly, size for the everyday and add a bench for the crowd.
