The Taren is a curved arm dining chair with half arms. Your forearms have a place to rest, and the chair still tucks in. It's all wood, with no cushion.
Arms and back, bent with heat
We bend the arms with heat. The back is a single heat-bent panel, set between the rear ends of the two arms.
They're half arms. That's long enough to rest your forearms on, and short enough that the chair slides in at the table.
A seat that curves two ways
The seat is all wood and curves in two directions. It's 16.9 in wide and 18.3 in deep (43 × 46.5 cm).
The legs are set in a trapezoid stance.
A low chair: check two heights
The seat is 16.5 in (42 cm) off the floor, and the arms are 25.6 in (65 cm). Measure the underside of your table before you order.
The whole chair stands 28.7 in (73 cm) tall. If you want a higher seat, the Haven sits at 17.7 in (45 cm), with no arms.
There's no cushion. For a padded seat with arms, the Varen has a genuine leather seat pad.
Joints, wood and the first week
We join the frame with mortise-and-tenon joinery. Every wooden part is solid wood, and the walnut is solid American black walnut.
It's Appalachian FAS-grade walnut under a hardwax oil finish. There may be a slight smell when you unpack it. Keep the room ventilated.
The oil resists water but isn't waterproof. Wipe spills promptly. We measure by hand, so allow 0.4 to 0.8 in (1 to 2 cm) either way.
